Position Title: Job Developer
Scope: Principal focus of this position is to assist adult family members to transition from shelters to more stable housing and independent living by helping them find rewarding, sustainable employment.
The TAFS Job Developer is primarily responsible for identifying and developing employment opportunities for adult family members in the scattered site shelter and stabilization program. Under the supervision of the TAFS Employment Specialist and in collaboration with the housing, case management, and stabilization teams, the Job Developer will assist family members to choose, get, and keep safe, appropriate jobs. In conjunction with the Employer Specialist the Job Developer will identify community-based educational and training opportunities for families.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Contact community-based employers to discuss hiring needs; build constructive relationships; and identify current and potential job openings.
- Pursue employer partnerships to develop training, internship, job readiness, and supported employment opportunities.
- Search on-line job boards, employer web sites, listings, postings, job fairs, and other resources for appropriate job openings.
- Collaborate with TAFS Employment Specialist and program team members to identify individual candidates qualified for available positions.
- Refer and recommend qualified candidates directly to appropriate employers, and schedule interviews whenever possible.
- Plan, implement, and facilitate structured job search plans.
- Assist candidates to contact employers, complete job applications, and follow up as necessary.
- Prepare candidates for meeting employers and practice interviewing skills.
- Monitor application process and troubleshoot problems with employers and candidates.
- Follow-up and support family member through initial placement period.
Qualifications:
- Strong commitment to help low-income families facing significant challenges find rewarding jobs and develop sustainable careers.
- Knowledge of local communities, urban labor market, and MA workforce development system.
- Ability to engage productively with diverse employers and build solid relationships with multi-lingual, multi-cultural program participants.
- Strong verbal communication and presentation skills with a background in recruiting, sales, or human resources.
- Experience with job search tools and Internet applications.
- Ability to engage, assess, motivate, and support family members through the job search and placement process.
- BA with experience relevant to the position. Bi-lingual capacity in Spanish strongly preferred.
